Protein Engineering

Protein engineering is a broad field of science, encompassing a variety of different techniques from random mutagenesis to rational design and protein large language model (pLLM)-based computational approaches (explore the details). Regardless of approach, the goal is the same: build a better protein by either modifying an existing protein or building a new protein with specific traits or functionality.  Essentially, protein engineering can make working with a protein easier,  enable a protein to be used in a totally new way, or create a de novo protein fit for purpose.

Protein Science

Protein sequence composition is  critical for making a great protein, but it won't get you all the way there. Choice in expression system, purification strategy, and formulation conditions also require careful consideration, and a one-size-fits-all approach rarely applies. Tyrala Consulting provides customizable support to carry you through the full project lifecycle. Structural Biology

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a three-dimensional protein structure at atomic resolution is priceless. Experimental structural data can make all the difference when you need a precise understanding of complex molecular interactions. This is particularly insightful for the rational design of small molecule therapeutics, and can also provide critical insight for precise modulation of protein-DNA/RNA and protein-protein interactions. 
Tyrala Consulting provides specialized structural biology and structural analysis services aimed at enhancing early drug discovery, enabling design of molecules with improved affinity and specificity and/or identification of differentiating targeting strategies.  We manage experimental structure determination with our trusted CROs to generate protein structures using X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), and we provide our clients with a thorough structural analysis, interfacing with our clients' in-house team to answer  key questions and  inform downstream decision-making.
